It was installed on Panyansky Boulevard, where in the 18th century stood the watchtower of the fortifications of the fortress of Poltava. Its opening was timed to the feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin, which is considered the heavenly patron saint of the Cossacks and their army.
