As part of the celebration of the International Day of Monuments and Sites, Vitalii Pavlov, Head of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the DCYF of the PCC, held an open lecture-presentation "The History of a Monument: on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the opening of the monument to M. Gogol in Poltava" at the I. Kotliarevskyi Literary and Memorial Museum in Poltava. During the lecture, the visitors learned what preceded the opening of the monument to the great writer in Poltava, what obstacles the initiators faced, and what symbolism and historical significance this monument has for our city.
The figure of Mykola Gogol is particularly important for Ukrainian literature and culture. He is one of the greatest writers who made a significant contribution to the development of world literature. His works are known for their deep symbolism, humor, and reflection of Ukrainian reality and national character.
The opening of the monument to Gogol in Poltava 90 years ago was a significant event for the cultural and historical life of the city. The monument itself has been registered as an artistic monument since 1982.
The celebration of the International Day of Monuments and Sites is important because it emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural heritage, helps maintain and develop interest in the city's past, and raises public awareness of the need to preserve historical heritage.
