Every year on the fourth Saturday of November, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 and the mass artificial famines of 1921-1923 and 1946-1947.
Museums belonging to the basic network of cultural institutions of Poltava joined the nationwide moment of silence and the traditional "Light a candle" action.
The light of a candle is an expression of grief for the dead, faith in Ukraine's victory and readiness to make efforts to prevent genocides from happening again. Evil must be condemned, and the memory of each victim honored.
The tradition of lighting a candle was proposed by the American and Ukrainian historian, researcher of the Holodomor in Ukraine James Mace in 2003. The "Candle of Remembrance" campaign aims to remind all Ukrainians how difficult it was for the victims of the Holodomor to survive the hungry and cold winter nights of 1933.
We remember this tragic page in the history of the Ukrainian people!
   The world recognizes!
