The appearance of the building corresponds to the style of the architectural ensemble. The main facade is decorated with a six-column portico of the Tuscan order, which rests on a protruding basement. Above the portico, the building is decorated with a horizontal attic.
The house of the Poltava Civil Governor was damaged in 1820 by fire and later rebuilt. It consists of a central U-shaped in plan, a three-storey brick building and two single-storey L-shaped outbuildings, symmetrically located at the corners of the site.
In 1943 the building was destroyed. In 1954 -1956 it was rebuilt with redevelopment.
