Description

The park was laid out on 5 hectares in 1936, on the site of the former All Saints City Cemetery, which was located almost in the center of the city as Poltava was built. The park contains the grave of Ivan Kotliarevskyi, dated 1838. During the Nazi occupation, the Nazis shot more than 3,500 prisoners of war and civilians on the site of the cemetery. There is a mass grave where the victims of Nazism are buried, as well as mass and individual graves of soldiers and officers who died during the expulsion of Nazi troops from Poltava and the region. In 1969, the Memorial Complex of Soldiers' Glory was opened in the park. In 1999, on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of Poltava, the Chapel of St. Panteleimon the Healer was built in the park to commemorate the countrymen who are buried in the former cemetery.
