In the Poltava Literary and Memorial Museum of Ivan Kotliarevskyi, a presentation of Vitalii Zakladnyi's book "Encyclopedia of the Aeneid" took place.
Vitalii Zakladnyi, the author-compiler of this edition, is a very well-known person in Poltava. He is the author of a number of popular science editions and publications devoted to prominent regions. Probably, all Poltava residents know his publication "Old Poltava residents: who are they?" Vitalii's new book is subtitled "anniversary edition". With this, the author directly attributes this book to the anniversary of I. Kotliarevskyi's poem. After all, the book contains recipes of ancient dishes of Ukrainian cuisine, mentioned in the "Aeneid" by Ivan Kotliarevskyi, which are organically combined with the author's observations and folk proverbs and sayings.
Also, in this popular edition, the reader will find information about the life of Ukrainians and, in particular, the people of Poltava in the late 18th and early 19th centuries (their ranks, titles, clothes, dishes, transport, etc.). The authors' research is presented in the form of an explanation of little-known phenomena and objects mentioned by Ivan Kotliarevskyi in his "Aeneid", with the involvement of folklore sources.
The book is recommended to everyone who is interested in ethnography and in general the past of their native land.
