On May 18, 2026, to mark International Museum Day, an environmental event was held at the Ivan Kotliarevskyi Museum-Estate in Poltava to plant a linden tree. Representatives of the city’s museum community, led by First Deputy Mayor Valerii Parkhomenko, took part in the event.

The event was a continuation of the “Oaks of Indomitability” initiative, launched in 2023, aimed at supporting and expanding Poltava’s green spaces, preserving the natural heritage of the region, and fostering an environmental culture within the community.

The tree planted this year—a linden tree—was given the symbolic name “Natalka Poltavka,” a reference to Ivan Kotliarevskyi’s eponymous work “Natalka Poltavka” and a iconic figure in Ukrainian culture.

Following the event, the heads of the city’s municipal museums were presented with monetary certificates to cover the museums’ current operational and financial needs.
