To mark the 100th anniversary of the commemoration of the outstanding Ukrainian statesman and cultural figure, a fighter for Ukraine’s independence in the 20th century, and Head of the Directory and Chief Otaman of the Armed Forces of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, Symon Petliura, a new information and tourism route entitled "Symon Petliura’s Poltava Period" was launched in Poltava. The initiative was implemented as part of the implementation of Resolution No. 4748-IX of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated 18 December 2025 “On measures to honour the memory of Symon Petliura” and is timed to coincide with the birthday of the outstanding Poltava native — 10 May.
The route has been designed as a walking tour of Symon Petliura’s hometown and aims to familiarise participants with the events of his life and work through historical locations and sites associated with the figure and his contemporaries.
The guided tour of the route, developed on the initiative of the Department of Culture and Youth of Poltava City Council, was led by research staff from the Poltava Literary and Memorial Museum of Panas Myrnyi. It is symbolic that the writer Panas Myrnyi’s son, Leonid Rudchenko, served in the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic.
