To mark the 100th anniversary of the tragic death of the eminent Ukrainian statesman and military leader, Chief Ataman of the Ukrainian People’s Republic Symon Petliura, the Central Library of the Poltava City Council hosted the launch of the second, revised edition of the tourist guide "Symon Petliura and Poltava". The event was organised as part of a series of activities to honour the memory of the fighter for Ukraine’s independence and to promote Poltava’s historical and cultural heritage.
The publication has been prepared with the aim of restoring the historical memory of the Ukrainian people, promoting the figure of Symon Petliura and fostering national consciousness. The guide is intended for a wide readership, including tour guides, museum staff, local historians and anyone interested in the history of Poltava and the Ukrainian People’s Republic.
Copies of the publication have been distributed to local community libraries and the city’s municipal museums for use in educational and tour-guiding activities.
