Poltava has become one of 20 cities in Ukraine to be included in the nationwide project "Discover and Explore Your Native Land". Its aim is to introduce viewers to the tourist attractions of Ukrainian cities, their history, cultural heritage and unique locations.
The project was initiated by the national online cinema SWEET.TV and organised by the event agency "Sadyba music". The Poltava Center of Culture and Leisure acted as the regional representative for Poltava.
The film crew visited 13 locations in the city: The White Rotunda, the Ivan Kotliarevskyi Museum-Estate, the Poltava Battlefield State Historical and Cultural Reserve, the city’s mini-sculptures, the Museum of Science of the National Center "Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" in the Poltava Polytechnic, the Eastern Hub of the Living Soil Museum at Poltava State Agrarian University, and the Botanical Garden of Poltava National Pedagogical University.
Tour guides, museum researchers and city guides spoke about the history and architecture of Poltava, its prominent figures, interesting facts and little-known chapters of the past. Thanks to this, familiar tourist attractions were revealed to the audience in a new light.
The city also revealed itself through its contemporary culture: on the stage of the The Poltava Center of Culture and Leisure, nine creative groups presented over ten artistic performances — ranging from folk dances and the hopak to vocal compositions, poetry and the "Poltava Painting" clothing collection. An exhibition of traditional Ukrainian art complemented the event.
The project aims to showcase Poltava’s appeal as a tourist destination, its cultural diversity and the people who preserve and promote the city’s heritage.
Soon, you’ll be able to discover Poltava in a whole new light — as part of a nationwide project on SWEET.TV.
