The first thing you see on the territory of the monastery is the earliest tall construction in Poltava, the monastery bell tower above the gate built in 1786 in the style of Ukrainian Baroque. The author of the project archbishop Nykyfor Feotoki, tried to recreate the highest “The Great bell tower” of Kyiv Pecher Lavra. The height of Poltava bell tower is 47 meters (154, 20 ft.). Poltava bell tower has 4 tiers, each of which is decorated with columns of different types of ancient order.
1st tier - the most massive, of rusted walls and columns of the Doric order;
2nd and 3rd - respectively, the columns of the Ionian and Corinthian orders;
From the beginning XIX century on the second tier of the bell tower was a miraculous icon of the Sorrowful Mother of God "Hope of all the ends of the earth", which was painted on the wall by the monk Danylo Moskovchenko. Believers went to her to pray with their mental and physical pains, and after the prayer they received consolation for the soul and healing from illnesses. The fame of the miraculous icon spread far beyond Poltava region. The fresco icon of the Sorrowful Mother of God was destroyed during the troubles of the twentieth century. Fortunately, a copy of it has survived - the cell image of Bishop Pryluky, vicar of the Poltava diocese Vasyl Zelentsov, which is now stored in the cathedral of the monastery.
The 4th tier is cylindrical (once with a clock that has not survived), covered by a parabolic dome with a deaf lantern.
Before the ruin of the monastery, the bell tower had 10 bells. Of particular pride was a huge bell weighing more than 6.5 tons, cast in 1797.
The bell tower of Poltava monastery is one of the best architectural creations of the Ukrainian Baroque period.

On the third tier of the bell tower there is an observation deck, which can be climbed by stairs. From here there is a picturesque landscape of Poltava and its outskirts.
