Hryhorii Miasoiedov (1834-1911) is a famous artist, the initiator of the Society of Traveling Art Exhibitions, an academician, a valid member of the Academy of Arts.
In 1889, thanks to the help of the Poltava doctor Olexandr Volkenstein, Miasoiedov bought a manor with a large orchard, a park and a pond in the suburb of Poltava Pavlenky.
For more than 20 years, the artist lived with his family in Poltava, taking an active part in its social and cultural life. Hryhorii Miasoiedov died alone on December 17, 1911. He bequeathed to bury himself without a ceremony on the territory of the manor, which was called "Miasoiedov's Dacha ". However, the Poltava police prohibited it "for sanitary reasons". On December 20, 1911, Hryhorii Miasoiedov was buried at the city cemetery, and on December 24, after receiving the appropriate permission, he was reburied at the estate, fulfilling the artist's last will.
In 1912, a gray granite obelisk with a height of 2 m was erected on the grave of Hryhorii Miasoiedov. Nearby is a relief bronze image of a palette with brushes.
According to the resolution of the CMU dated September 3, 2009 No. 928, the grave of the artist H.H. Miasoiedov is registered as a historical monument of national importance, protection number 160008-Н.
