Vira Kholodna (in her virginity - Levchenko) - an outstanding film actress of the silent film era, one of the first recognized models was born in the family of a famous Poltava literature teacher. She acted in melodramas and short films: "Anna Karenina" (1914), "Song of Victorious Love" (1915), "Mirages" (1915), "Life for Life" (1916), "Forget about the fireplace, the lights went out in it "(1917), the last film" Princess Tarakanova "(1918), in total - more than 50 films.
During performances in Odessa, she fell ill with a severe form of Spanish flu, from which she died in 1919.
Based on the life and film career of Vira Kholodna, in 1975 the feature film "Slave of Love" was created.
In 2016, by order of the head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, one of the alleys in the city of Poltava was renamed VIra Kholodna Alley.
