A memorial plaque in honour of the fallen soldiers of the 116th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The memorial site was created as a symbol of gratitude and respect for the defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.
The memorial has become a place of remembrance for the soldiers of the Poltava Territorial Defence Brigade, who from the very first days of the full-scale invasion stood up to defend the state and took part in combat operations on the fiercest sections of the front line. The names of the fallen heroes, their military ranks and years of life are engraved on the memorial structures.
The memorial honouring the fallen soldiers was realised with philanthropic funds in 2024. The installation of the memorial was agreed with the command of the 116th Territorial Defence Brigade.
During the creation of the memorial, a pedestal for flowers and candles was added to the design in the form of reinforced concrete blocks, symbolising elements of shelters or checkpoints.
The design was proposed as an alternative to a memorial display featuring photographs. The lead architect and creator of the concept is Taras Rudenko.
The 116th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade is one of the key military units in the Poltava region. Since the start of the full-scale war, its soldiers have taken part in the defence of Ukraine’s north-eastern frontiers, in battles in the Donetsk region and in other areas.

The concept of the memorial is based on a combination of metal steles and symbolic elements that embody the indomitability, courage and self-sacrifice of Ukrainian soldiers. The six steles symbolise the brigade headquarters and the battalions that make up the 116th Territorial Defence Brigade.
